Officers honored for dog rescue

Reisterstown, Md. - Four members of the Baltimore City Police Marine Unit were honored for their heroic rescue of a dog that found itself in the Inner Harbor last December. A passerby spotted Penny struggling in the chilly water and called 911. The marine unit was quick to respond, including Sergeant Michael Kain, Officer William Edgar, Officer John Rambeau and Officer John Wagner. They worked together to get Penny into a rescue boat, braving the cold waters themselves. The Baltimore Humane Society held a ceremony to show its gratitude and support for the officers. "These four gentlemen were willing, in the freezing cold, to not only protect our community all the time, but also our pets," said Elizabeth Silber with the Humane Society.
