Vancouver-based marketing platform NiceJob won second place in this year's New Ventures BC competition, winning $60,000 Canadian dollar.
Vancouver, BC (Merxwire) - NiceJob ranked second in this year's New Ventures BC competition. This year's competition received more than 200 applications and set a record. After six months of strict competition, four rounds of review, NiceJob finally won the second place.
The award is exciting! "Being one of the top 2 startups in BC this year is crazy for us. We know our customers love our product, and we're proud that we've gone from 2 to 18 employees in less than 2 years without funding, but there were so many other great startups this year like Lumen5 and Cuboh. Honestly we're just honoured to a part of such an amazing group. Winning for us is just more validation that the mission we're on, helping small businesses get the reputations they deserve, is a worthwhile one," said Connor Wilson, Director of Growth at NiceJob.
Winners of the New Ventures BC competition have gone on to raise over $305 million dollars, created 2700 jobs. They were judged on their idea, the viability of the business, and its chances of success. They were also given mentorship and workshops to hone their pitches, write their business plans, and improve their models.
"Every year, I'm taken away by the strength of the companies in BC's tech sector. The diversity of ventures in this year's top 10 is a true representation of the creativity and innovation we see emerging from all corners of the province," said Mike Volker, Board Chair of New Ventures BC.
"We're proud to be supporting the industry and are looking forward to seeing this group of companies grow and succeed in BC, Canada and beyond."
"NiceJob will be using the prize money to further our goal of helping small businesses everywhere get the reputation they deserve. For us, that means investing in both more local engineering talent, and our customer acquisition efforts," said Connor Wilson, Director of Growth at NiceJob
