MONMOUTH JUNCTION, New Jersey: A toddler in Monmouth Junction, New Jersey, 22-month-old Ayaansh Kumar, grabbed his mother's phone, pressed a button and ordered $2,000 worth of furniture this week.
"It is really hard to believe that he has done this, but that's what happened," said the child's father, Pramod Kumar, as quoted by nbcnewyork.com.
According to the child's mother, Madhu Kumar, she had created a cart on her phone placing items, including furniture, but never checked out.
However, when trucks began delivering furniture to their home, she asked her husband and two older children, who had placed the order?
As the deliveries began arriving, Madhu asked,
"I need one or two, why would we need four?"
The toddler bought accent chairs, flower stands and other household items that Madhu had been looking at for their new home. Additional packages kept coming all week.
"He's so little, he's so cute, we were laughing that he ordered all this stuff," his mother told nbencwyork.com.
Since he was born in April 2020, the youngest Kumar has watched his two older siblings and his parents work, go to school and shop online, all from home during the Covid lockdown. And apparently, he's been paying close attention.
"Moving forward, we will put tough passcodes or face recognition so when he picks up the phone he finds it in locked condition," his father said.
The parents have said they will wait until all the packages arrive, then load them into their car and return them to the local Walmart, where they were ordered from.
However, the family said they might keep a few items to remind them of their toddler's first online shopping experience.
